My Autumn/Winter Blush Wardrobe

I must confess that I'm a bit of a blush hoarder.  If there's anything I tend to experiment with aside from my lip shade - it's the colour I dust on my cheeks of a morning!  I love that something so simple and quick can completely bring together a make-up look in an instant and brighten up your entire complexion.  I've had a bit of a make-up overhaul recently and thought I'd introduce you to my Autumn/Winter 'blush wardrobe' - because for a beauty blogger, it doesn't stop at swapping your cami tops for polo-necks does it?! Ohh no - I've swapped around my entire cosmetic collection and placed some of my more wintery shades within grabbing distance.  It's time to put the bright corals to bed! Without further ado, here's 7 of my 'go to' shades for the autumn/winter season and why I'll be reaching for them over the next few months...

Illamasqua | 'Tremble' // The Winter Bright //
I must admit, I'm really not a big fan of pinks - I find that I need a bit of warmth in my blush colour due to my skin-tone but Illamasqua's 'Tremble' is probably one of the only bright pink shades I can get away with. It's showing up a little more cool toned on camera but this is seriously bright - it's not for the faint hearted but when applied lightly it gives such a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks. If you're a fan of Illamasqua's 'Lover' blush (it's one of my all time summer favourites) this is like its pink, wintery cousin... it still has the same brightness to it but looks a little more natural and flattering on dull, winter skin.  I love Illamasqua's blushes - they always look so immaculate and flawless on the skin and are incredibly long lasting. If you're looking for pigmentation - look no further.  I have an ancient review of Tremble here.

Deborah Milano | 'Spicy' // The 'Any Season' Coral //
I know I said I've put my corals to bed but this is the only one I find myself reaching for all year round.  Trust me when I say that this little compact is well loved! If you're looking for a versatile, year-round colour then this shade will be right up your street.  It looks just as flattering on my winter skin as it does when I have a tan - it looks so natural. It's the perfect coral because it isn't too orange or bright - it works whatever the weather, whatever your skin tone and whatever make-up you've applied.  I love the texture of the powder too - it applies so smoothly and effortlessy and it's really nicely pigmented - I've used this to death for around a year and I've barely worn down the surface - well worth the money! I have a full review of it here.

Nars | 'Orgasm' // The Perfect Healthy Glow //
Ooo Beauty blogger classic alert (just look how battered mine is - the poor thing!) Although I can't say this blush is one of my all-time favourites, it's one that I find myself reaching for through the winter months.  It's got a bit of shimmer running through it so it's perfect for those days when you just can't be bothered to highlight as it brings a healthy, natural glow to the face - killing 2 birds with one stone, as they say! I like to use this colour when I'm feeling a little bit under the weather - rosy pink blushes are actually proven to help counteract dull tones and dark shadows under your eyes, and 'Orgasm' does a fabulous job of making me look bright eyed and bushy tailed even when I'm far from it. Its rosy appearance does a fabulous job of brightening the skin and gives a naturally 'blushed' appearance. It's definitely one of my more understated blushes (despite the shimmer) - it's the type of blush I'd pop on for a quick flush of colour if I'm off for a winter walk somewhere.

Nars | 'Deep Throat' // The 'Everyday' Winter Staple //
Oh crikey me - Nars and their naughty names make me blush even before I've swept them on to my cheeks! Despite it's 'out there' name, this blush really is such a great everyday staple. It's like a slightly lighter, less shimmery version of 'Orgasm' with a hint of peachy pink.  I must admit I was never sold on this until I had it applied on me by an MUA in Space NK - it looks completely different once you have it on your cheeks and gives such a healthy flush of peachy-pink to the cheeks. If, like me, you lean towards corals and oranges and want something suitable for the season, I really recommend you check this one out.  It's a lovely 'in-between' sort of shade - I can wear this all year round because it has a good bit of warmth running through it.  It's a good option for paler skin too as it's not overly pigmented - it's very buildable.  I have a full review and photographs here.

Benefit | 'Rockateur' // The Subtle Touch //
I really didn't expect this to become one of my autumn staples, but it has! I actually find this to be quite similar to Nars' 'Deep Throat' blush - just a slightly lighter version.  Again, it's peachy-pink hints work really well on winter skin and the satin finish is really flattering.  It has a subtle hint of shimmer which gives such a healthy glow - another fabulous option if dull skin is your main concern. I find this blush works well for layering becuase it's quite subtle. It's formula is very buildable and if you wish to achieve the colour in the pan, you can, but I actually really enjoy using this alongside Benefit's 'Majorette' - layering this on top of a bright coral works really well. I have a full review here.

Mac | 'Blushbaby' // The 'Depths of Winter' Flush //
Again, this isn't one of my all-time favourites but I really enjoy using this shade in the winter months.  It's a gorgeous, natural shade with a slight hint of mauve - a little more cool-toned than what I usually reach for but with the right make-up it looks so beautiful. I always pop this on if I'm wearing a darker lip colour or if I've opted for a mauve/purple toned lip. It swatches a little warmer than it looks in the pan - it's definitely got a hint of 'brick' running through it (have a nosey at the swatches, you'll see what I mean!) Think bobble hats, cosy knits and hot chocolates - this shade really is my 'depths of winter' blush - perfect for snowy days. I love the matte finish - it works really well with a flawless base and a teeny fleck of highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones.

Mac | 'Harmony' // The Sculpting Shade //
I adore this shade.  It's so multi-functional as it works as a contour shade as well as a blush. It's a cool toned 'brick' sort of colour - very difficult to explain but one that works incredibly well at softly sculpting the cheeks. If you're new to contouring, I really recommend this - all you need to do is sweep some of this onto your cheeks and et voila - instant cheekbones. If I'm in a rush, I'll quickly dust some of this on using a blush brush, but i find that it works really nicely if you use a slightly smaller tapered or 'domed' brush and place the colour on your natural contour line. With 'Harmony', it's so easy to achieve that sculpted appearance without the fuss.  As with most Mac blushes, it's really soft and easy to blend - but isn't so overly pigmented it's difficult to work with. Definitely a staple shade in my collection. I have a full review here.

Swatches L-R | Illamasqua 'Tremble' / Deborah Milano 'Spicy' / Nars 'Orgasm' / Nars 'Deep Throat' / Benefit 'Rockateur' / Mac 'Blushbaby' / Mac 'Harmony'

So there we have it - my Autumn/Winter blush wardrobe. I also love Benefit's 'Majorette' and Illamasqua's 'Lover' blush - but the shades I've featured are definitely the ones I'll be reaching for when the weather really does take a turn for the worst!  My ultimate favourites have to be Deborah Milano's 'Spicy' and Nars' 'Deep Throat' - and Mac's 'Harmony' really is a winter contouring must-have if you're a fan of a sculpted cheek like me.

What's in your autumn/winter blush wardrobe this season?

My MAC Lipstick Collection

Now then. Before I begin, let's address the obvious - I have too many Mac lipsticks. 27 if we're going to be precise. I'm fully aware that nobody needs this many Mac lipsticks (or this many lipsticks in general for that matter...) but as a beauty enthusiast, they're something I both enjoy and appreciate having - for me, they really are the cream of the crop when it comes to lip products.  Over the past few years, they have become something of a staple in my makeup routine and I'm sure if you're a fellow lipstick-aholic like myself, you'll understand my deep rooted love for these beauties. They're a classic. Mac get it spot on the mark when it comes to lipsticks - everything from their sleek design, to the delicate vanilla fragrance to the outstanding variety of shades and finishes - I love it all - there's nothing like waltzing into the Mac shop and casting your eyes over the array of lippies! It's a beauty blogger's dream! My makeup never feels complete without a slick of lipstick or two, and I'll often spend a few minutes of a morning looking through my collection picking the perfect shade for the day.

So, I've decided it's time to share my collection with you all.  I love reading about other people's Mac collections as it always manages to spark some inspiration - it seemed about time I finally shared my own! Whether you're after your perfect shade, need some inspiration or simply just fancy having a nosey into my lipstick drawer, hopefully this post will be of some interest to you!  I've tried my best to organise this post by splitting them into categories, (this was so unbelievably satisfying to do - believe me) and I've provided all details about colour and finish, as well as the Mac description of the shade (I've included these in the title of each lipstick in quotation marks - I'll pop 'LE' at the end if any are Limited Edition) - I've also tried to give my own personal opinion on the colour. So grab a cuppa, get comfy and prepare yourselves because this isn't going to be a post of the short and snappy kind! I'm going to tell you which ones are my all time favourites, which ones I maybe regret buying, which shades are great for everyday wear, which ones are perfect for seasonal wear, which ones work best for 'statement' night out looks and generally give you a little overview of my personal opinions on how each colour works (or doesn't work) for me. I've really loved photographing this post and putting all of it together - I really hope you enjoy reading it just as much!

L-R: Creme D Nude / Viva Glam Gaga II  / Blankety / Half n Half / Freckletone / Velvet Teddy / Paramount

Nudes, Browns and Neutrals

Creme D' Nude | Cremesheen | 'Pale Muted Peach Beige'
The lightest of all my Mac lipsticks.  I had high hopes for this shade being my go-to 'everyday' nude but in reality, it's just too light for me - especially now that my lipstick preferences have 'matured' and I prefer something a little more brown toned and warm. I like the fact that it's quite sheer due to it being a cremesheen finish as it makes it a little more wearable, but unless I'm going for the whole 'smokey eye', big hair, classic 'Bridget Bardot' look, it doesn't exactly work for me.  It's definitely a handy one to have in my collection and it doesn't go un-used. It's just not my favourite nude.

Viva Glam Gaga 2 | Amplified | 'Pale Beige Nude' | LE
It was a risk when I bought this and it's one that didn't exactly pay off as this is just far too 'concealer lips' for me.  The yellow undertones only add to this effect and I'd never wear this alone.  It's a good one for blanking out the lips for further colour but for me, that's as far as it goes.  It's just too much beige!

Blankety | Amplified | 'Soft Pink Beige'
Now we're talking.  If you want a classic nude and you have a similar skin tone to me - look no further than Blankety.  It's got just the right hint of pink so it doesn't make you look 'dead' in the face and the amplified finish really compliments the shade. I love this one.  It's very much my classic 'true nude' shade.

Half n Half | Amplified | 'Creamy Pink'
This is a step up from Blankety. It still has pink undertones but is slightly darker and has more of a brown tone to it.  I really love this one - again, I love the amplified finish and I think this is a great one to opt for if you want a nude lipstick, but with some extra definition.  Its slightly darker than my natural lip shade so it's not exactly a 'nude' as such - but its understated, classic, and can be worn with the majority of makeup looks.

Freckletone | Lustre | 'Neutral Peach'
This lipstick is most certainly an unsung hero of the Mac lipstick world! This is one of my most used Mac lipsticks ever and I always get compliments when I wear it.  Rumoured to be a favourite of Beyonce, this shade is the perfect everyday shade for pale and olive skin tones alike.  The peach undertone really warms up your complexion and brightens up your entire face in a jiffy - I find it to be a great one through winter as it really does help to counteract any dullness in your skin.  The lustre finish makes it so wearable too - the glossy finish and sheer colour is buildable and perfect for on the go as you don't need a lip liner.  I reckon this might one of my most favourite lipstick shades I've ever owned...

Velvet Teddy | Matte | Deep-Tone Beige
I'll be honest, I hated this when I first got it.  In fact, I almost sold it! However, as time has gone on, I've re-discovered it, seen it in a completely new light and now I have to say it's one of my favourites!  It's definitely not for everybody - I personally love my 90's inspired browns and darker nudes and this one is perfect for defining the lips without making too much of a statement.  It's a step up from 'Half n Half' (as you can see in the swatches, 'Blankety', 'Half n Half', and 'Velvet Teddy' are all very similar in tone). If you have darker skin, this might be worth looking in to if you're after a staple nude.

Paramount | Satin | 'Reddish Brown'
I wasn't sure whether or not to class this as a red, but the brick-like tone to it and distinct brown hint made me pop it in the neutrals camp. It's a bit of a in-between-y isn't it!? This is my newest addition and, like Velvet Teddy, isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea.  It's definitely got that 90's vibe going on (think Clueless, checked skirts, chokers and the lipstick to match!) I personally love this - I can tell already that it's going to be my Autumn favourite! It just reminds me instantly of chilly afternoon walks, crunchy leaves and darker evenings... Definitely one of my more daring shades and also quite unique.  I'm planning on a full review soon so keep your eyes peeled if you're feeling intrigued by this...it's not one I tend to see on a lot of blogs!

L-R: Shy Girl / Cut a Caper  / Ravishing / Saigon Summer / Costa Chic

Peaches, Corals and Oranges

Shy Girl | Cremesheen | 'Creamy Neutral Coral Beige'
This is definitely another one of my all-time Mac favourites - and it's one that receives one heck of a lot of praise in the beauty blogging world! I find I have to layer this on a little bit to achieve the pastel peach shade seen in the bullet, but like Freckletone, it's another one of those perfect everyday colours to throw in your handbag.  The peachy tones warm the complexion and its really flattering when your skin is a little paler. I think Freckletone tops the mark slightly for me, but for a peachy creamy nude, this one is perfect.

Cut a Caper | Lustre | 'Mid-Tone Peach Pink' | LE
Sadly, this is a Limited Edition shade. I wish so much it wasn't as it's simply stunning.  I try to limit when I wear this simply because I love it so much and when it wears down I'll be a little sad to say the least.  I think I actually prefer this over 'Shy Girl' - its more noticeable, slightly brighter, and the pink tones in it work amazingly well with my skin whether i'm tanned or pale.  Again, it completely freshens up your complexion. It's a great all-rounder. Mac? Take note!

Ravishing | Cremesheen | 'Clean, Light, Peachy Coral'
This shade is a true coral.  Not too dark that it's overpowering, but noticeable enough to make a bit of a statement.  It's such a lovely summer colour and it's perfect for day or night. It can be a bit hit and miss for me - sometimes it suits me and others it doesn't - it's very dependant on your skin/eye makeup.

Saigon Summer | Cremesheen | 'Frosted Bright Orange'
I adore this shade - it's so pretty.  The orange tones are perfect for the spring/summer and set off a tan like nothing else.  The slightly frosty finish actually compliments it too and makes it much more wearable to similar, more well-known shades such as 'Morange'.  It's definitely a bit more 'out there' but i've worn this in the daytime to Uni and I've also worn it out in the evenings on holiday - surprisingly versatile!  It's definitely a true orange.

Costa Chic | Frost | 'Frosty Light Coral'
Cult beauty blogger fave alert! Whenever I go on holiday, I am never without this in my suitcase. It's amazingly pigmented, lasts incredibly well and is probably my favourite option if I really want my tan to pop.  It also seems to make my teeth look much whiter and brighter. It's super flattering on and the pink undertones make it really wearable.

L-R: Creme Cup / Plink!  / Fanfare / Bombshell / Speed Dial / Chatterbox

Mid-tone pinks

Creme Cup | Cremesheen | 'Light Blue Pink'
Another beauty blogger fave right here! Similar to 'Shy Girl' in lightness (does that make sense? Hopefully you get my jist there!), but obviously a pastel pink instead of a peach.  This is one of the first Mac lipsticks I ever bought and I've repurchased since. It's a classic nude pink - perfect for daily wear.  I love this in the wintertime when my skin is a little lighter. It looks amazing paired with a smokey eye.

Plink! | Lustre | 'Warm Seashell Pink'
I love Mac's description of this shade - because that's exactly what it is! It doesn't look amazing when swatched but on the lips this is a stunning shade! The yellow undertones are super flattering and the lustre finish gives a natural sheen. Like Creme Cup, this looks lovely with a smokey eye - but also adds a nice touch if you have next to no makeup on and just want something slightly coloured and glossy to pop on your lips. I love this one. It's quite buildable too.

Fanfare | Cremesheen | 'Mid-Tone Yellow Pink'
In my opinion, this is another one of Mac's shades that isn't overly raved about - but totally should be! I adore this one. It's a gorgeous, mid-tone pink with warm undertones and it looks gorgeous for everyday wear.  I have a full review of it here if you want to find out more about why I love it.

Bombshell | Frost | 'Bright Rosy Pink with Shimmer'
I feel like a broken record right now but this is another one of my faves!  I'm guessing it isn't overly raved about due to the 'frost' finish that everybody seems to dislike - but I definitely think some of Mac's 'Frost' finishes are well worth a swatch. I fell in love with this instantly - its so girly and bright.  I like it because the slight frosted finish makes it wearable for both day and night. It definitely lives up to its name - 'Bombshell' is the perfect bright pink - very girly and fun. I have a full review here.

Speed Dial | Cremesheen | 'Light Blue Pink'
I will always have a soft spot for this lipstick because it was my very first Mac purchase. Like Bombshell, this is a super girly mid-toned pink with a touch of brightness.   I've just realised that Mac describe it exactly the same as 'Creme Cup' on their website - strange! It's definitely more of a mid-tone as opposed to a light shade.  A great pink to opt for if you don't want something too bright but still want to make a little bit of a statement. It's almost like a slightly toned down version of 'Bombshell' - all the girly-ness without the frosty shimmer.

Chatterbox | Amplified | 'Bright Red Pink'
This is one of those shades that I really want to love, but I just don't. At least, not on myself.  I really don't suit this sort of pink unless I have a cracking tan! I don't think red-pinks are for me, sadly.  I'll wear it on holiday sometimes as I love the amplified finish and it does look lovely and smooth on, but I definitely seem to suit true reds and cooler toned brights much more.

L-R: Viva Glam Nicki / Saint Germain  / Show Orchid / Lavender Whip / Up the Amp

Bright Pinks and Purples

Viva Glam Nicki | Satin | 'Vivid Bright Pink'  | LE
Again, following on from Chatterbox, I do not suit this shade.  Bright, vibrant pinks are not my thing. I love how they look on other people but when I wear them they just look too barbie-ish and clash with my skin tone and hair colour.  This one is ridiculously bright - leaning on fluorescent - the swatch doesn't show it to it's true brightness and I think the camera picked it up more in the 'line up' shot.  Sadly, this hasn't had much wear whatsoever.  I'm tempted to give it another whirl over the winter - I know that it was loved by a lot of bloggers when it was first released so I must be missing something?!

Saint Germain | Amplified | Bright Bubblegum Pink
Ahh this shade... How it reminds me of my youth. I don't really favour this shade anymore but I keep it more for nostalgic reasoning ;) I used to love this bubblegum pink back in the day... It's certainly a bright one, that's for sure! I cringe slightly when I think back to it now - in my first year of uni i used to prance around wearing this thinking I was the bees knees. Oh dear Beth... You never know, I might wear it again one day but my tastes in lipstick have somewhat matured since this purchase...

Show Orchid | Amplified | 'Vivid Hot Pink'
Now, I'm aware of what I've just said about bright pinks not suiting me, however, the blue undertones in this one work much better.  This is my most coveted lipstick ever.  It's not one for the faint hearted - this baby is seriously bright! It's a gorgeous statement shade that makes your teeth look whiter, your tan slightly deeper and your skin a little brighter. It ticks all the boxes for a statement pink for me! It's earned a spot in my makeup bag for the next time I manage to jet away somewhere sunny...I have a full review and photos here.

Lavender Whip | Cremesheen | 'Light Cool Lavender' | LE
I'm still undecided on this.  I have a very love/hate relationship with it and I only ever reach for it through autumn/winter due to the cool lilac tone. It's quite a 'young' sort of colour and at the age of 24, I'm not sure I really suit it... maybe a few years ago this would have been one of my favourites (Barry M's '129' used to be my weapon of choice in my teenage years...Google it and you'll see exactly why this shade reminds me of it... ;)) - I must have been feeling a tad nostalgic when I went out and bought this. I think the cremesheen finish works in it's favour though and I actually do like this when I've applied a really light layer - if worn in the right way it can be really flattering and subtle. Again, it isn't for everyone but I do have a little soft spot for it despite it not being one of my most worn... I have a full review here.

Up the Amp | Amplified | 'Lavender Violet'
I must have been feeling rather brave when I bought this - I definitely had a 'YOLO' moment ;) Like Lavender Whip, I really can't work out whether I like this or not.  It's a statement shade for sure and I'm still trying to figure out how to truly make it work for me.  It's definitely quite 'out there' and I'm not sure if I'm really an 'out there' person when it comes to lipstick... it's definitely a stunner, but its one that needs to be worn with certain clothes and makeup to get it to work.

L-R: Lady Danger / MAC Red / Viva Glam Rihanna / Dark Side

Reds and Burgundys

Lady Danger | Matte | 'Vivid Bright Coral Red'
This is my statement summer red. I love it! The slight orange undertone is perfect with a tan and it photographs really nicely too.  I love adding a gloss on top of this one to make it pop even more - it's a stunning bright red!  Definitely a staple shade to have in your collection.

M.A.C Red | Satin | 'Vivid Blue-ish Red'
This is my statement winter red due to the cool undertones. Saying this, I find this shade a little more wearable with my skin tone (compared to Lady Danger which I only reach for over the summer) - I actually wear this year-round. It's my classic go-to 'pillarbox' red. Definitely one of my most used reds in my entire collection of lipsticks.  Another staple shade - if you're after a classic red, look no further.

Viva Glam Rihanna | Frost | 'Frosty Blue Red' | LE
Very similar to M.A.C Red but with a frosty finish and slightly brighter.  I have to say, this photographs amazingly well and the staying power is so impressive - definitely one to opt for if you're off for a night on the tiles. It has a certain brightness to it that other cool-toned reds lack - it almost has a cherry hue to it. I have a full review here.

Dark Side | Amplified | 'Deep Burgundy'
The darkest lipstick in my collection, Dark Side lives up to its name! It's a gorgeous, deep toned burgundy and I love the amplified finish as it makes it such a statement and you don't need to build it up. It's perfect for the winter time and I truly love it - I wish i could get away with it all the way through the year! It's the perfect vampy shade with a tough of gothic glam - it looks lovely with cosy winter jumpers! I have a full review here.

And there we have it, my Mac Lipstick Collection. I'm aware it's probably a bit excessive but they've always been the perfect pay-day treat for me and I've loved collecting them and discovering more about lipstick in the process. It's impossible to pick favourite but I definitely have my 'staple' shades I couldn't be without - hopefully you've picked up on some of my most-loved throughout the post but I'll probably do a post at some stage in the future outlining my ultimate staple shades if this would be of interest.  Anyway, this post has been rather meaty without me rambling on any further... I do hope you've managed to gather some lipstick inspiration or have simply just enjoyed having a nosey into my collection!

What's your favourite Mac Lipstick? Is there any shade here that you have your eye on for your next purchase?!

The Love Continues for Collection DeLuxe Lipsticks... | Prohibition & Tallulah

De-ja vu? Well, yes - the more avid readers amongst you might have clocked on to the fact that I've already posted about Collection's Deluxe Lipstick in 'Prohibition' (you can read that post here if you're interested!). I promise I'm not a broken record - I just adore the shade so much that I went out of my way when in town the other week in order to pick up a back-up of it - it really is my 'winter berry' favourite.  I've run it down quite sharpishly to say the least and, well, you know what it's like when you really do love a lipstick... A back-up shade is an absolute necessity. You know it's true love when you can't bare to spend a single day without it living in your makeup bag! Anyway, whilst I was at the Collection stand - I decided that I'd pick up another shade from the range. It would have been rude not to. After all, I love 'Prohibition' so much that it seems silly not to have a swatch and a ponder over it's relatives...

I settled on 'Tallulah' - a gorgeous baby pink shade.  I don't own a lot of pink shades as I'm much more of a 'corals and reds' kind of girl - so this mid-toned pastel was just the ticket.  Expand your horizons and all that... I expected nothing less than the same pigmented, creamy texture of my beloved 'Prohibition' and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest.  Just one swipe provides instant colour pay off and staying power is amazing for a pastel shade! If you're familiar with Mac shades, I'd say it was somewhere in between 'Creme Cup' and 'Chatterbox' - I'd still class it as an understated nude pastel - but it's got a little bit of 'kick' to it - and stands out on the lips without looking too 'wannabee Barbie'.  What I like about it is that it doesn't lean too cool or too warm - it's just a lovely neutral shade of pink and it seems to brighten up my complexion in an instant (which is rare for pinks as they usually look quite bland against my skin).  I must admit it looks slightly cooler in tone on camera than it does in the flesh - but it really is a beautiful pink and has fast become one of my favourite everyday shades.  I'm still a corals girl through and through - but when the 'pink moment' strikes me - I have this little beauty to reach for!

As for 'Prohibition' - I guess it speaks for itself.  It looks a little lighter on the swatch in this post for some reason - but if you want to get an idea of how it looks on the lips, see it in more of a 'true light' and read up more on what I think to it - then head over to my post on it here.  I think the fact that I've already repurchased another speaks volumes for my love of the shade. Overall, I really do recommend checking out Collection's Deluxe range.  They don't have many shades (and I'm hoping they expand their selection soon) but the colours they do have are so wearable and pretty and I'd happily purchase the whole bunch. I'd liken the finish to Mac's Amplified lipsticks - super creamy and pigmented with fabulous staying power. For just £3.99 they're worth every penny.

What are your thoughts on the Collection DeLuxe range? What's your favourite shade?

Collection Gothic Glam Lipstick in 'Revenge' | Dupe for Mac's 'Dark Side'?

You know me... casually stroll into Boots and make a beeline straight for the lipsticks.  When I heard of Collection's new Gothic Glam range a couple of weeks back, I tottled off to pick one up - it's no secret that I've been in favour of a darker lip of late!  I instantly settled on 'Revenge' - a deep maroon shade. The collection consists of 2 other shades - one slightly lighter berry red, and a very daring deep purple.  The lighter maroon looked very similar to their 'Prohibition' Deluxe lipstick which I already own (it has it's own post here!) and I couldn't quite see myself pulling off the purple shade (beautiful as it is) without looking like I was about to go trick or treating... so 'Revenge' it was!

I have to say - Collection know how to make a lipstick. Every single one I've bought, I've loved.  They're pigmented, last amazingly well and the formula is always really creamy and non-drying - not to mention the amazing price! For £2.99, these little beauties are a fabulous option for a purse-friendly treat.  As soon as I popped 'Revenge' on the lips, I was instantly reminded of my newest dark-lip fave, Mac's 'Dark Side'. (post here)  And when I got them both out alongside each other to compare, I wasn't wrong! Not only are they very close in the colour stakes, but they give a very similar look and finish to the lips and are both incredibly opaque.  'Dark Side' is more of a true dark maroon shade compared with 'Revenge' - Collection's offering is ever so slightly more purple toned as can be seen in the swatches above.  Personally,  I don't see a great deal of difference once worn - and although my Mac favourite tops the mark sliiightly, I must admit I love 'Revenge' and I'm so glad I picked it up.  I love the formula - it's lovely and opaque without being completely matte, so it gives that little bit of dimension to your lips and doesn't instantly settle into fine lines or dry areas. Thumbs up from me!

Of course, I'm aware I actually didn't need both of these lipsticks in my collection - after all, they're both extremely similar - but I must admit I'm quite happy to have found a cheaper, affordable dupe for a Mac winter favourite!  I always feel a little 'iffy' about taking my Mac lipsticks out with me (we've all been there, done that and lost the £15 lipstick, right?), so in future, I shall keep the Collection version in my handbag for on the go top ups! I can't seem to find the Gothic Glam collection on Boots website, but you can easily find them in store and also in Superdrug here. For £2.99, they're the perfect excuse to try something a little more daring this winter...  I have a post on Mac's Dark Side here if you fancy comparing the 2 in more detail!

Have you tried any lipsticks from Collection's 'Gothic Glam' range? Whats your favourite?

Top 5 Autumn/Winter Reds

Swatches Top to Bottom | Rimmel Kate Moss '107' / Collection 'Prohibition' / Mac 'MAC Red' / MUA 'Shade 13' / Revlon 'Red Laquer' /

Autmn/Winter is the perfect time of year to really experiment with berry tones and statement reds.  A red lip is timeless and classic - and once you've found 'the one' (or in a beauty blogger's case - a fair few) you'll never look back.  A pop of red on a dreary winter's day always looks striking, and the whole build-up to Christmas is the perfect excuse to get festive with your lip colour.  Berry tones and pillar-box reds are my preference for the winter months, and I tend to lean towards orangey-reds in summer.  If you're a 'red lipstick newbie' it's worth baring in mind that what might look amazing on you in winter, might look a bit dull on you in summer and vice versa. So, this in mind, I thought I'd give you a run-down of my current Top 5 'wintery reds' in no particular order... I have worn the majority of these in different posts so I've linked those into the mix as well if you want a more in-depth look at the shades.

Rimmel | Kate Moss '107'
Ohhh Kate Moss. Your lipsticks sent beauty bloggers across the globe into a berry lipstick frenzy last year. A year later and I'm still addicted to the infamous '107'.  This is the darkest shade of the bunch and is a dark berry red with hints of purple.  It's very much a gothic twist on the classic red, and although it appears scary in the tube, it looks beautiful once on the lips.  It very much reminds me of Topshop's 'Beguiled' (post here) and is amazingly pigmented.  It's quite matte - so it isn't for the faint hearted but it's a lovely colour all the same.  Want to see what it looks like on? You can find my previous post on the shade here.

Collection | Deluxe in 'Prohibition'
I have written a whole post on this little beauty including a snap of it on the lips here if you want to read more.  This shade is my most reached for lipstick at the moment and has to be my current favourite.  I actually prefer this to '107' - although almost identical in shade, this one is a touch lighter and is much more glossy - although it's still strongly pigmented.  It's just the perfect consistency in my opinion and I find it so easy and comfortable to wear. I don't find it drying in the slightest (107 has a tendancy to be a bit drying) and I've been wearing this in both the day and at night - it looks lovely with a simple, neutral eye and a slick of liquid liner.  It's the lipstick I'm wearing in my current Twitter picture, if you're interested! I shall be doing some sort of post on the look soon so keep your eyes peeled!

Mac Lipstick in 'MAC Red'
This lipstick is an absolute classic in my eyes.  I love it.  It's a true 'pillarbox' red shade and looks so striking when worn. It's quite a bright red and looks amazing on the lips as it makes such a statement.  The satin finish and vivid colour it provides are just the perfect combination.  It leans slightly blue without being overly cool in tone, and instantly makes your teeth look whiter.  It applies like a dream and stays put for ages - it looks so classy and timeless. If you're after a classic, true red - look no further than Mac's 'MAC Red'.  I have to say Mac's Red lipstick selection is second to none. There's something there for everyone.

MUA | Shade '13'
THIS little beauty is my red staple and has to be one of my all time favourite reds.  I wear this in the day (I even wear it to Uni) and on nights out and every single time somebody will ask me what shade of red I'm wearing.  Every time I tell them it's a £1 special from Superdrug their little eyes light up with delight (I should really stop telling them shouldn't I? - I'm giving away my MUA secret!) It's extremely pigmented - probably the most pigmented of the bunch - and is so soft and creamy to apply.  It's a lovely, instense bright red and I like it because it isn't too orangey - it suits me in both the summer and the winter time without fail and if MUA ever discontinued it I would bulk buy a lifetime supply quicker than you could say 'product rave'.  True love right there.

Revlon | Red Laquer
This shade is perfect for those days where you don't want to be too 'OTT' but fancy a little pop of colour.  Similar to Revlon's 'Candy Apple' lip butter but slightly brighter, this shade is such a lovely, subtle orangey-red that is just perfect for every day wear.  You don't need a lip liner to wear it, you don't need to spend 5 minutes in the mirror pulling your 'concentration face' and you don't need a special occasion to pull it off - it's just the perfect understated red.  The orangey tone brightens the complexion without looking too sickly - and it feels glossy and smooth to apply.  I think of it as a watered down version of Mac's 'Lady Danger' with a glossy, buttery finish.  If you're interested as to what it looks like on, I wore it last Christmas in this FOTD.

You've got to love a red lipstick, right?  I'm addicted to buying them! My collection must house an entire spectrum of crimson shades now and one day I shall have to sit down and photograph them all because that would just be extremely satisfying....  I shall be sure to keep you posted if there's any more additions - I currently have my eye on Mac's 'Hang Up' but I reckon I might pop that on the Christmas list...

What's your favourite winter red? Any of these tickle your lipstick taste buds?!

Autumn Berry Lips | Collection DeLuxe Lipstick in 'Prohibition'

Collection DeLuxe Lipstick | 'Prohibition' | £3.99 (link)

Ok.  I was all set for typing a really autumnal themed post this evening (hence the atmospheric blog photos complete with twinkly lights...oof!) but this morning, I have been sat in the garden getting a little bit of sunshine before the cold, frosty mornings really do take hold. I kid you not, it's been like the last little dose of summer this morning. I realise I can't stay in denial any longer - summer has well and truly gone after all, and as soon as the nights start drawing in, the autumn/winter make up comes out to play.  I won't lie - I'm not the biggest fan of winter. I like the cosy nights, baggy jumpers and the whole build up to Christmas but after the festivities are done and dusted I've had enough.  I'm a sunshine lover through and through (not the greatest if you live in the UK...) But one thing that I do look forward is the whole 'dark nails, dark lips' thing.  Autumn/Winter is the perfect opportunity to really go wild with darker shades and experiment with statement colours.  So, I introduce to you my first 'autumn makeup purchase' of the season - Collection's DeLuxe Lipstick in 'Prohibition' - a deep, vampy red.

The photographs pick it up to be slightly more pink toned than it is - it's a gorgeous berry shade with a little hint of purple/pink running through it - but once on the lips it transfers as a stunning deep red/plum sort of colour.  I was really intrigued by the new 'DeLuxe' collection - as soon as I swatched them I was sold. The formula is really creamy and glides on so smoothly and effortlessly, leaving a slight sheen that is ever so forgiving if you suffer with dry lips.  I really love how pigmented it is - one or two swipes and you're good to go.  You do need a lip liner with a shade like this though, especially due to the creamier consistency - I personally haven't had a problem with it slipping or bleeding just yet but I can imagine one wrong move and your beautiful berry lips will go from 'vampy' to Count Dracula within a few seconds. I must admit I've always found Collection's lipsticks to be of really good quality, and their pigment and formulas always seem to work well for me - which is great for the purse friendly price tag of just £3.99. Yep, that's right. Change from a fiver. You can't go wrong.

I can really see this shade being my 'go to' berry lip for the next few months.  It's not dissimilar to the infamous Kate Moss '107' (you can have a nosey at my post on that here if you're interested) - it's slightly lighter, slightly less daunting and not as 'full on'.  If you were a fan of '107' last year but found it difficult to wear, then it's worth looking into this shade.  It's in the same sort of shade range but a little more appropriate for daytime wear and not as dark.   You can find the DeLuxe shade range here on the Boots website. I really do hope they bring out more! I'm hoping to get my hands on a few more shades next time I'm passing on by...

Have you tried Collection's 'DeLuxe' range? Which shade is your current favourite?

Monthly Favourites | July

July has been such a lovely month for me.  As well as enjoying some scorching weather at home (the sun has most certainly got his hat on just recently, hasn't he?!), I've also been away to Crete for a week of Pina Coladas and relaxation with the fam, and tottled off to London for 6 days with my uni course to exhibit some of my work. Cor Blimey ;) What a month! As well as this I've also been to an interview for a placement and am now building up for my birthday weekend. It's fair to say I've had a lot of chances to discover new products and re-vamp my makeup routine, and I certainly have found a lot of new cosmetic favourites this month. So much so I've actually had to cut them down! I settled on a few that might tickle your fancy. Far to often I bombard you all with my lipstick favourites but I figured I've had about 4 I've been wearing constantly this month so I'd better save those for a summery post soon...  Anyway, I shall kick off with a selection of July's favourite products...

Victoria's Secret | Body Spray Fragrance in 'Sensual Blush' |

If you saw my recent holiday haul, you'll have seen this little beauty sitting amongst the things I bought. It smells amazing. It's so light and fresh and so summery - and looks really pretty sitting on my dressing table.  Just a few sprays drenches you in the fragrance and for a body spray it actually lasts pretty well. In fact, i've had people ask me what perfume I'm wearing! It also lingers in my bedroom once I've spritzed it so it's also doubled up as a handy room fragrance this month for me - it's safe to say I am addicted to it. I'm slightly gutted that when this one runs out I'm going to struggle to get another... unless I fancy booking a flight to America solely for the purpose of stocking up my fragrance stash, that is.

Urban Decay | Waterproof Eye Liner in 'Demolition' |

I won't say too much about this as I dedicated my most recent post to this little beauty (you can have a read here if you're interested). In summer, I much prefer a brown eyeliner as opposed to black.  I tend to kick the liquid out for a few weeks and settle on a more subtle, natural option for my peepers.  This one is a dream to apply, stays put all day and makes my eyes stand out without looking too smokey.

Collection | 'Work the Colour' Eyeshadow Pencils |

I've never been intrigued by eyeshadow crayons before up until my Motherbear let me borrow one of hers on holiday.  As soon as I arrived home I swiftly popped out and bought the 3 colours I liked - including the Vintage Pink shade that I'd loved so much in Crete (thanks, Ma!) For the price they are absolutely amazing and are bang on the mark with pigmentation and application.  Once they're on, they're on - they last ages on my eyes and are so fuss-free and simple. The brown colour is perfect for a subtle smokey look for daytime whereas the lightest shade (a gorgeous yellow/white colour) is perfect for the inner corners to brighten up your eyes. LOVE.

Bourjois | Bronzing Primer |

Okay. This is product has fast become my favourite product of the whole month and I'm sure it will remain one of my favourites well into next summer. The consistency is so unbelievably blendable and smooth and it looks so natural buffed in over my foundation.  I also like to apply some underneath my foundation as it helps to smooth the skin and help your makeup stay in place, at the same time as adding a soft, bronzed glow.  It's kept my holiday tan going all month - I often lose colour on my face first so it's been handy to have in my makeup bag for a bit of a boost (it's not a good look when your face is paler than your body is it?!) I'll definitely be buying another pot as soon as this runs out - it's so versatile and I'm determined to make it work for me through autumn/winter too.

Harley Street Skin Care | Spot Less Buster Solution |

I have a full review of this product here if you want to have a nosey, but this spot treatment is now a staple in my skin care routine.  I was actually sent this to try and I've already ordered another bottle for myself.  It treats any blemishes you have really quickly, but without the horrible dry appearance that other treatments tend to leave, meaning that this one is perfect for underneath your makeup.  It can be used as either a topical treatment or used over an entire problem area, meaning that it's more versatile than other treatments I've tried.

Mark Hill | Holiday Hair Cover Up Protection Spray |

This little mini has been a suitcase essential for me this month! My hair often gets a little frazzled in the sun and I often end up battling with a load of frizz towards the end of a holiday. This little spray came in so handy for sunbathing - simply spritz over the ends of your hair and over the scalp area and it helps to protect hair from the heat of the sun.  It smells beautiful and I found it helped my hair to remain softer and frizz-free for longer.

Mac | Paint Pot in 'Rubenesque' |

I have a full review of this paint pot here, but it's been my go-to eyeshadow base this month.  I use it constantly and am totally obsessed with the peachy-gold colour it gives.  It looks beautiful both with or without a tan and looks amazing both on its own or with powder shadow over the top.

Seventeen | Wild Eyes in 'Wild Purple' |

I often get a little scared of applying any form of colour to my eyes - I'm very much a neutrals girl. However, I thought I'd give this purple shade a whirl just recently and I have to say I love it! I have green eyes and it really helps them 'pop'. I put a little in the outer corners for a subtle flash or colour and then use a liner brush to apply some under the lash line.  I'm definitely tempted to grab a few more shades!

And so there we have it - an edited version of this month's favourites! I really struggled knocking them down to 8 so I hope I didn't ramble too much! I didn't post any favourites last month so it's been even tougher choosing them this time around.  I'm currently planning a few things for my birthday at the weekend - I turn the grand old age of 23 so I'm thinking a round of bowling (got to be a little childish!) and a night on the tiles is in order!

What have you been loving this month? Anything here take your fancy?

My Mac Lipstick Collection

Swatches | L - R | Top Row: Velvet Teddy / Shy Girl | Second Row: Plink! / Creme Cup / Saint Germain | Third Row: Speed Dial / Viva Glam Nicki / Costa Chic | Bottom Row: Ravishing / Saigon Summer / Lady Danger

There's something about a row of lipsticks that I find rather pleasing to the eye, so forgive me for the photo heavy post - but I've also just received my new macro lens for my camera so to say I got a little bit snap-happy is an understatement!  I thought it would be the perfect time to do a Mac Lipstick collection post - as they are something I personally like to have a nosey at on other blogs as they give me ideas for my next purchase and new colours to add to the ever growing wishlist! I thought I'd give you a rundown of the colours I own and hopefully help a few of you pick your next in line - or maybe even your first one! I have a grand total of 11 Mac lipsticks.. which I think is a nice amount to call it a 'collection' if I don't say so myself. Although I must admit I cannot wait to make it 12.. there's something about odd numbers that doesn't sit right with me... (please reassure me I'm not alone with this hatred of odd numbers!)

Velvet Teddy (Matte) - A deep brown-ish nude. I find this to be a 'your lips but better shade', although on me it does look quite noticeable.  Great for those days where you don't want to be too over the top but still want the lips to stand out. The matte finish means it is quite pigmented and paler skins might find it a little too dark for a nude shade.

Shy Girl (Cremesheen) - One of my absolute favourites. I've had this for a couple of months and it's been used more than some of the others I've had for longer! A peachy nude shade that looks so flattering on paler skin and really awakens a dull complexion. If you're after an everyday shade and need a bit of warmth then I really recommend this one (post here)

Plink! (Lustre) -  A warm 'seashell' pink. The newest addition to my collection and a favourite of Mollie King from the Saturdays (if it's good enough for Mollie then by heck, I'll be having me some of that!). A very sheer wash of colour due to the lustre finish but one that is very glossy and flattering. A fabulous everyday pink. If you like a bit of gloss to your lippies then look no further.

Creme Cup (Cremesheen) - Another old favourite of mine. Similar to shy girl but pink instead of peachy toned. Great for everyday wear and those who like pinky nudes will love Creme Cup.

Saint Germain (Amplified) - Not for the faint hearted. A very bright, bubblegum blue-toned pink that is very 'in your face'. Personally I love it, although I must admit i feel very 'Barbie-esque' when I adorn this lipstick. Definitely a fun addition to your makeup collection. The amplified formula is the most pigmented of the bunch so rest assured you will be getting your colour pay-off with this one, it's completely opaque and covers the lips instantly.

Speed Dial (Cremesheen) - The first Mac lipstick I ever bought and one that I will continue to repurchase. A mid-tone blue-ish pink that's understated enough to be worn everyday but bright enough to make an impact. A very good little all-rounder and the cremesheen finish makes it a dream to apply.

Viva-Glam Nicki (Satin) - An extremely bright pink and surprisingly wearable. It's superly-duperly pigmented and lasts very well on the lips. I struggle to wear this through winter but it's a gorgeous summery pink if you're into your bright colours!

Costa Chic (Frost) - I think this has to be one of my summer favourites and if i had to pick one lipstick to last me all summer it would be this.  Just seeing it reminds me of sunny afternoons sipping pina coladas by a pool and walks on the beach at sunset (can you tell i'm craving a holiday right now?). It's just the perfect eye-popping coral and it really does look amazing with a tan. Trust me on this one - if you're jetting away to sunnier climes this year, you need this in your suitcase...

Ravishing (Cremesheen) - Mid-tone coral. A lovely wearable shade if you're scared of going for full-on orange! It looks lovely even with paler skin (I've been wearing it through winter) and it a great option if you like warmer tones on your lips.

Saigon Summer (Cremesheen) - Part of the new range available at Mac. It has a slight frosty finish to it but is amazingly pigmented and is a super bright orange tone. I set out to buy 'Morange' but I saw this one and preferred it! It's amazingly bright - the camera doesn't pick it up to be as bright as it is in 'real life'. I urge you to go and swatch it! It's beautiful. Definitely going to be a summer staple for me!

Lady Danger (Matte) - Another new addition! Amazingly pigmented orange-toned red. If you're after a bright red then look no further.  I prefer orangey reds as opposed to blue-ish reds on my skin tone.. and this one is just the perfect addition to my collection.

And there we have it.  My collection as it stands. In a few months I will probably have to do another since I'm planning on updating it over the next couple of weeks or so (I have no willpower whatsoever when it comes to Mac lippies..) I think it's fair to say I do like my mid-tone corals and pinks.. I really need to get more daring with my lipstick - but I much prefer classic reds if i'm going to go for a bright colour (hence why Lady Danger is the only 'darker' colour I own!) I have a few more on my wish list and definitely want to expand on the darker colours slightly.. I really want 'Russian Red' and 'Sunny Seoul'.. and I'd really love to add 'Up The Amp' to my collection too since I don't own any of Mac's purple-y shades!
