I decided to keep taking it because my acne was horrendous whenever I tried to switch to another pill, and the doctors were all happy to let me do so after explaining there was a 1 in 125,000 risk of developing DVT. I was happy with that stat as whilst it's high for the pill, it's actually pretty low risk in the grand scheme of things, and I just couldn't deal with my acne returning.

I was recently made to come off Dianette by a new doctor. I asked him for recommendations of medical journals documenting studies into the risks of Dianette as he didn't seem to have any real evidence, and instead he directed me to the Daily Mail (aka. the most sensationalised newspaper you could possibly read when it comes to health stories).

I was really unimpressed by his lack of knowledge, but I came off Dianette anyway and so far, so good. I've not had any weird symptoms, and obviously I'm happy to be on a pill with a lower risk of causing health problems. My acne has come back a little bit, but I managed to get referred to a dermatologist, so hopefully it should get sorted.

I can't believe that no doctor ever explained the risks to you, it's terrible and definitely not the service we all pay our taxes for! I think when it comes to health issues, we're all best avoiding stories in the press and looking for solid medical advice in journals etc. Newspapers will do whatever they can to sensationalise a story and make us worry! x

Elissa | styleaffix.com Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03805322038961009295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426068761724643576.post-74711708942553499662013-06-18T12:30:02.748+01:002013-06-18T12:30:02.748+01:00I was first put on the most common pill at 14 beca...I was first put on the most common pill at 14 because i have polycystic ovaries but had really awful side effects and couldn't even get out of bed by day 4. They changed my dosage/ make around a few times but never talked me through any of them when I wanted to have the implant taken out as it was making me extremely sick my GP actually refused for 6 months! Now at 18 I always go the contraceptive clinic as they actually know what they're doing. Shocking how little drs seem to know about what they prescribe!

http://redlipsblackflicks.blogspot.co.ukDaisy Greenawayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11124342071024995701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426068761724643576.post-57845183064221962992013-05-04T23:49:58.576+01:002013-05-04T23:49:58.576+01:00Hi i would really like to talk to you about this, ...Hi i would really like to talk to you about this, can i have your email or another way of contacting you? thanks xbrunette1652https://www.blogger.com/profile/05948478291066310616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426068761724643576.post-67441420419779166252013-05-01T22:56:43.197+01:002013-05-01T22:56:43.197+01:00Hey,I'm also 22 and was diagnosed with endomet...Hey,I'm also 22 and was diagnosed with endometriosis almost a year ago, give me a bell if you'd like any advice or just a chat!
Becca xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426068761724643576.post-65146119911306680472013-05-01T22:52:55.375+01:002013-05-01T22:52:55.375+01:00i think its great to raise awareness of drug side ...i think its great to raise awareness of drug side effects etc. and personal stories..though i do think that some of the comments made by other readers can be misleading..like suggesting certain contraceptive pills to take because it has worked really well for them is irrelevant. Being in pharmacy, I didn't even know this about Dianette but I know it's not one of the CP's that are common. Ideally you're only supposed to be on the pill a certain amount of years but it shouldn't give you the side effects it did no matter how long you took it. I'm currently talking Micronor which is a mini pill, I am unable to have the combined pill due to my weight. I highly recommend that pill, I've had no side effects and it's stopped my periods, for me this is a good thing. I was previously taking Cerazette which made me insane, it is a horrible pill for me and really didnt agree with my body, making me put on weight and I had horrendous mood swings. I've heard that the combined pill Yasmin is used to help skin but each pill is different and reacts to everyone in a different way. It's a case of switching and changing and finding what works for you. I hope you are ok though Beth
xxxBeth Bradleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04869164463456821380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426068761724643576.post-8400150899343446582013-04-21T12:43:43.327+01:002013-04-21T12:43:43.327+01:00Thank you for doing this post, I have been on this...Thank you for doing this post, I have been on this pill for nearly 5 years now!!
